ENGLISH HOME PAGE
GEA is a non-profit scientific association which aims to study and
conserve ecosystems. Man and the Environment are the main themes of our work. In particular
the interest and the intervention of GEA are born in contexts in which the
relationship between these two elements results fragile and not very
sustainable, and the disequilibrium between the environment and the community
is often, in fact, at the basis of much more ample and complex problems. Take a

The projects which GEA offers are multi-disciplinary: ethology,
socio-biology, anthropology, demography and psychology, as applied to ecology
and conservation, all intersect each other in our work, both relative to the research and work methods and relative to the approach of the intervention.
The Projects are coordinated by qualified personnel (amongst which are university teachers,
researchers and psychologists) and they employ the collaboration of volunteers
(students and non-students) for the collection of data from the field.

Fundamentally, we can identify two souls in GEA: one more focussed on
research, which is concerned with monitoring and evaluating the environmental
impact in the areas of intervention; the other, which we might define of
intervention, which concentrates more on the communities and their specific
problematics from a point of view of cooperation for sustainable development.
Inevitably, though, the two souls intersect giving the association its
own specificity of working methods. We work with the conviction that also in
cooperation research is important. The collection of data is fundamental not
only to carry out the analysis of the needs and to monitor the phases of the
projects, but also to identify the methodologies and the intervention
strategies which will be most effective and sustainable.
